Five Weeks Postpartum and Terrified…

"I went into my session with one simple intention. I wanted to learn how to love the body I have. For a long time, I’ve struggled to even look at myself. Confidence has never come easily to me, and I was hoping this experience could help me see myself in a different light and begin to appreciate what I’ve been given.

I first heard about Laura Lynne Boudoir through a friend who invited me to follow along. Around the same time, another photographer friend suggested I try a boudoir session as a way to build confidence. It felt a little out of reach at first, but the idea stayed with me.

For a long time, I made excuses. I told myself I would do it when I lost more weight or when I felt more ready. But eventually, it got to a point where I couldn’t even look at myself in the mirror anymore. I knew I needed something to shift the way I saw myself, and this felt like a step in that direction.

That didn’t mean I wasn’t terrified. The thought of being seen nearly nude by someone I had never met was overwhelming, especially having just had a baby five weeks prior. I was also afraid that I wouldn’t like what I saw in my photos, that it would confirm all the negative things I already believed about myself.

But the experience was nothing like I expected.

From the moment I arrived, I felt more comfortable than I ever thought possible. Laura guided me through everything, showing me exactly how to pose and move in ways that felt natural and flattering. I didn’t have to know what I was doing, she led the entire process in a way that made me feel supported the whole time.

What stood out the most was how light and enjoyable everything felt. Even though Laura clearly takes her work seriously, she created such a fun and relaxed environment. She could tell when I was nervous and gently helped me move through it, which made all the difference.

When I saw my photos, I was honestly in awe. The way I saw myself in those images was completely different from the way I had been seeing myself in my head. It shifted something for me in a way I didn’t expect.

This experience didn’t make me feel perfect, but it did change how I view my imperfections. I still see them, but now I see them with more understanding and acceptance instead of criticism.

The studio itself was beautiful. The light, the warmth of the space, the way everything came together made it feel like such an elevated experience. It truly felt like stepping into a space where you could become a different version of yourself.

Walking in, I had never met Laura before and I couldn’t have been more nervous. But by the end, I felt completely at ease. I was able to move past that fear and create something I’m genuinely proud of.

If I could say anything to someone considering a session, it’s this. There will always be excuses. For me, it was my weight or thinking I should spend the money elsewhere. But those excuses never go away. If you’re waiting for the “perfect time,” it doesn’t exist. You just have to take the leap.

Because on the other side of it, there’s a version of you that feels freer than you expect."

This is what a real boudoir experience feels like at Laura Lynne Boudoir, where women are guided to see themselves with confidence, clarity, and a completely new perspective.
